Waldburg Shires is long established and well respected amongst not only the heavy horse world but also that of carriage driving. Six of our magnificent horses draw the Lord Mayor of London's gold state coach every November through the streets of London.

The stars of our show
Our herd consists of magnificent Bay Shire horses, each with their own unique personality and strengths. They are carefully matched to ensure perfect harmony whether working in pairs, fours, or larger teams.
Shire horses are the largest breed of horse, standing up to 18 hands (6 feet) tall and weighing nearly a ton. Despite their impressive size, they are known for their gentle temperament and willingness to work.
Originally bred as war horses and later for agricultural work, Shires are now primarily used for showing, commercial purposes, and special occasions like those we provide. Their strength, beauty, and calm nature make them perfect for working with the public.
